| Editorial Reviews:
Description Based on the bestselling books by James Herriot, this long-running series is a perennial PBS hit. All Creatures Great and Small Series Seven wraps up the final installment of this heart-warming tale from the Yorkshire dales with James Herriot (Christopher Timothy), his wife Helen (Lynda Bellingham) and his volatile but warm-hearted partner, Siegfried Farnon (Robert Hardy). Life at the small veterinary practice continues to challenge the partners, whether by neglected animals or tight-fisted farmers. But through all the trails and tribulations, the social upheavals and the years gone by, friendship and family prove themselves as strong as ever.
Amazon.com The seventh and final series of the beloved All Creatures Great and Small, based on the autobiographical tales of Yorkshire veterinarian James Herriot, ended with the warmhearted humor and sentiment that marked the show's entire run. As ever, James (Christopher Timothy) wrestles with the illnesses and injuries of cows, horses, pigs, dogs, and occasionally more exotic animals, as well as the quirks and moods of the eccentric farmers and the bickering of his fellow vets, the brothers Siegfried (Robert Hardy, best known as Cornelius Fudge in the Harry Potter movies) and Tristan Farnon (Peter Davison, Doctor Who, Campion, returning to the show after an absence). Series 7 moves into the 1950s, even featuring the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Though the episodes feature all three vets, much of the fun comes from the escapades of Tristan, who's as prone to frivolous obsessions and harmless scrapes as ever. Romantic tangles are his specialty: The series starts with James playing a prank on Tristan, leading him to believe he'd drunkenly proposed to someone two years earlier; later, he becomes smitten with the pretty owner of a pet tortoise. But the show's heart lies with James himself, whose warm relationship with his wife Helen (Lynda Bellingham, Second Thoughts) mirrors his passion for the animals in his care--be it an enormous sow or a neglected dog. And of course, Mrs. Pumphrey and her pekingese Tricki Woo put in an appearance. The Complete Series 7 Collection includes 12 episodes, plus the 1990 Christmas special and--a must for fans--an interview program from 2004 that reunites Timothy, Hardy, Bellingham, and the original Helen, Carol Drinkwater. Though it's the show's last series, newcomers will find it easily accessible and will swiftly grow fond of the well-developed and engaging characters. --Bret Fetzer

Series 7, All Creatures October 19, 2008 I purchased Series 7 for my husband, for our 25th wedding anniversary. He has been a fan/collector for many years, and this was the last one left to obtain in our quest for the complete set. He says they are great-they are his one form of relaxation. He was also impressed that the 1990 Christmas special was included-we thought we wouldn't be able to get it at all. I don't think he has been disappointed with any of his All Creatures DVDs-they are all very watchable, and the era they are set in has been portrayed beautifully. We would recommend it to all watchers of great British T.V.
All Creatures Great & Small - Series 7 Collection August 29, 2008 My family "loves" all of the All Creatures Great & Small produced by BBC. This specific series is a continuation of the great stories played by wonderful actors of the daily life of a country vet in the Yorkshire Dales, England. These stories are especially funny & enjoyable. My question is? Are there any more??
concluding dvd set for a great series July 17, 2008 I have always loved James Herriot and the All Creatures Great and Small series. This dvd set arrived in accordance with the promised date and was in good condition and quality as represented by seller. The cost was good and I have no complaints
All Creatures Great and Small Series 7 Great! June 22, 2008 This series is really good and entertaining. I have seen all the series prior to this one plus read all of James Herriott's books, at least twice. Plus, I have farm animals. The acting is great; the work with the animals is authentic. I just wish there was a series 8, 9, 10......
All Creatures Great and Small, series 7 May 14, 2008 A delightful conclusion to this touching series. When I first began watching Harriot's stories brought to life on the screen it was often difficult to understand because of the heavy accent of the local farmers and a number of the expressions exclusive to the Brits. However, over time, and often backing up the video to hear again what was being said, one's ear becomes accustomed to the dialogue used in the script. There is so much garbage and triviality on American television, i.e., language laced wih foul language and sex simply to titillate, that I found All Creatures to be most refreshing. The stories are 30 years old now, but this kind of entertainment never goes out of style. I treasure having this series in my film library so that I can return to these stories again and again.
