MELANIE BOWLES DOES WONDERS FOR THESE HORSES. The Horses of Proud Spirit September 11, 2008 I really enjoyed reading about the experiences the author had with her horses. Each one had something unique to teach us. This author is an amazing person and this world is a better place because of her. Sad but very refreshing. As a life long horse owner and lover I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has a compassionate heart and an interest in reading about people who care enough to make a difference. The book consists of a series of short portraits of horses, some of whom have given up, and their road back to recovery and beyond all through the knowledgable and caring attention of Melanie. Sounds trite but it is really an indepth exploration of the spirit of life and/or woman at its best. Wow.
